It is that time of the year again! So lets get to it, first some traveling tips so everyone can have the best vacation possible. So here we go my top recommendation on your journey to the cottage, beach or city. Make sure you know where you are going to stay, if it’s your cabin you won’t have any problems, but if it is a hotel make sure it is close to where you are going to party and that it is in a safe area. Travel light, you’ll get to where you need to go fast and if you do lose your shit, it won’t be much. Bring cash , it is a life saver, you never know where you might need it, and if you do get in trouble it will be helpful to pay off the cops. Now if you are planing on drinking or doing anything else make sure you are not alone, the worst thing you can do is be intoxicated in an unknown area by yourself. Don’t get mugged, so dress casual, that means no jewelery, fancy watches etc. and above all stay alert. Another thing to consider if you are going out of the country is to check the local laws , you might be surprised with what you can get away with and what you can’t.  Above all have fun, a confident and positive attitude goes a long way. January 16th 2012 the “GAME OVER EP” was released it’s comprised of  two indie dance tracks by POOL and corresponding deep house remixes by Stimming and is backed by 2DIY4 a sister label to DIYNAMIC.

The EP’s namesake track “Game Over”  is exactly what you expect when you hear the term “Indie Dance” and Stimming’s remix is exactly what you want when you hear the name Stimming. A great deep house remix with smooth deep bass line that balances out the pop-y vocals.

Both of these guys had a strong 2011 with a huge amount of releases that are both original tracks and remixes. These heavy weight producers each have their own signature sound that makes their tracks easily recognizable.  They are both one trick ponies but with the best tricks!

Jamie Jones and Samuel L Session show up multiple times on my Top 50 of 2011, well their remixes do. I find their original tracks mostly fall in the category of “filler”(not that filler tracks are not a vital part of a DJ set, they just aren’t to memorable) But when these guys lend their sound to enhance other songs the product is HUGE!

In this post I am including both an original and remix track from both Jamie Jones and Samuel L Session. You can judge for yourself which trick you like the best.

Michel Cleis’ La Mezcla  vs. Paul Kalkbrenner’s La Mezcla

LA MEZCLA was originally released on Strictly Rhythm June 8th 2009 by Michel Cleis. Then remixed by Paul Kalkbrenner and released November 19 2009. It features vocals by the legendary Toto la Momposina a Colombian singer who last week received the National Life and Work award from the Colombian Ministry of Culture. Michel Cleis’ LA MEZCLA is charted on Resident Advisors Top 100 of 2009 and I consider it a contemporary house classic but Paul Kalkbrenner’s remix is my personal favorite. It is almost unrecognizable from the original except for an edited cut of the famous LA MEZCLA melody.

EXTRAWELT’s “Swallow the Leader”(click to listen) is Electo Techno or something close. Released November 4 2011 on “In Aufruhr”, this is my favorite track to come from Techno super label Cocoon in a while.  A moody Techno bassline mixed with a Electro wobble (that is almost reminiscent of DJ ZINC) it’s an interesting release in the driving hard sound this winter weather has brought.
